About the event
This course provides current and potential paraprofessionals with assistance in building basic knowledge of reading, writing, and math, as well as how to best support and encourage students in the classroom when building, practicing, and refining these skills. The course also prepares paraprofessionals to take the ParaPro Exam in an effort to gain highly-qualified status through the district per the Para CBA (a passing score of 464 or higher is one way to become a highly-qualified Para in the PCPS school district). If you have an Associate’s degree or higher OR at least 60 hours of college credit, as verified by the district, you should NOT need to take this course! Please reach out to certification if you are unsure of your status–we are unable to answer these questions at the PEA office!
- Any PEA-offered professional development is FREE to PEA members.
- PEA members are prioritized in registration and the waitlist.
- This course will be open to ALL current PCPS paras and provisional paras FREE of cost (even if you are NOT a PEA member–but we hope you will join!)
This is a 6 hour face-to-face class. Participants who attend the course will earn 6 in-service points.
